Welcome to Benjamin Franklin High School!

I would like to welcome you to Benjamin Franklin High School. My name is Mr. Jon Hutman and I am honored to serve as the principal at BFHS. I am looking forward to your visit and I hope that you enjoy learning about why our school is a top-ranked Arizona charter school. I hope that you are excited to start your journey as a BFHS Charger knowing that the road to excellence has many rewards.

As one of the first charter schools opened in the state of Arizona, we take pride in a program that has been developed and refined for over 20 years. The Benjamin Franklin Charter Schools program promises to be academically accelerated and focused on mastering the academic and social skills needed for high academic achievement as well as developing habits that will contribute to success in life.

At BFHS, we work to create an environment that allows every student to feel welcome and valued. Students are encouraged to exercise discretion in making good choices that will impact their lives in a positive way. Our students are taught the importance of self-discipline, independent work, and focused study habits. My desire is that each student will leave our campus with the confidence to know that hard work, creative thinking, and a strong character opens the doors to a successful future.

I am energized and deeply committed to making a positive difference in the lives of your children. We will accomplish this by setting high academic and moral expectations for all children and providing supportive systems to assure they are met. By enriching school culture, setting high standards for teacher performance, increasing academic expectations for all students and engaging the community, it is my goal to make BFHS the best school in the east valley.

Honest, open communication between home and school is absolutely essential in the operation of a successful school. You have my contact information at the bottom of this letter. Please don’t be afraid to use it. I am committed to play a part in helping you teach your children the skills and knowledge needed to find success in high school and beyond.

I am looking forward to working with you this year. Please feel free to reach out at any time.
