BFHS Band Program

Join Benjamin Franklin High School Bands! With three ensembles there's a place for you whether you're a beginner or a seasoned veteran!

We play a lot of great music, ranging from standards of the wind band repertoire to jazz, film scores, the occasional pop tune, and much more! Students are also able to audition for supplementary activities such as the pit orchestra for the musical and various chamber groups (we currently have a clarinet choir and flute choir!).

We have a history of doing well at festivals (ensembles have attained “Superior”, “Best in Division”, “Best Overall”, et al, at adjudicated festivals locally and on tour) and keep seeking to challenge ourselves musically and as people in general.

The Benjamin Franklin Bands are a year-long, performance-related, skill-building class that emphasizes foundational musical technique on specific instruments. This also includes significant creative elements. We perform at least four concerts per year and often attend festivals, both in-state and out.

An audition is recommended for students new to our program. An audition will include (but is not necessarily limited to) multiple scales, a prepared solo, and sight reading.  While no experience is necessarily required, it is highly recommended that students new to instrumental music speak with the teacher prior to the school year beginning.

Purchase of a uniform and a technique book is required for most ensembles.
